Waiting on… — the things that aren't yours
Track what you're waiting for from other people, so it stops living in your head as an unfinished task.
A list of things that are out of your hands: the signed contract, the reply from the accountant, the refund, the quote you asked for on Tuesday.
Why not just a task
Because it is not a task. You cannot do it, so it sits on your to-do list unticked, making the list feel undone and — worse — training you to skim past unfinished lines. Meanwhile the actual work, which is remembering to chase it, has nowhere to live.
Waiting on… gives it a home. Your to-do list goes back to being things you can act on, and nothing gets quietly dropped because the ball was in someone else's court.
Using it
Type what you are waiting for, ideally with who owes it: "Marco – signed contract". Add a due date if there is one.
The card shows how long each item has been waiting — "today", "1 day ago", "{n} days ago". That number is the entire feature: three days is patience, three weeks is a phone call, and you cannot tell which one you are in from memory.
When it arrives, press Mark resolved.
In the Cockpit
The Waiting cell counts what is still open, so a glance tells you whether anything needs chasing without opening the widget. Nothing pending is a real state and it says so.
