Email (IMAP) — up to six mailboxes

The Email widget connects a real mailbox over IMAP (reading) and SMTP (sending). It works with Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Fastmail, your own domain — anything that speaks those two protocols.

One tile per mailbox

You can put up to six Email tiles on the board, each with its own account. Add another the same way as any widget (+ Add widget → Email) and configure it separately.

Rename the tiles so you can tell them apart — click the title and type "Work", "Personal", "Invoices". See The board.

Removing a tile does not forget its mailbox: put it back and it reconnects to the same account, which is what makes the removal's Undo honest.

Reading

The card lists your Inbox with the unread count. Click a message to open the reading view, which shows the body, the attachments and — if you have already answered it — a Replied or Forwarded mark with the date, and the replies you sent.

Attachments can be previewed in place or downloaded. Very large files skip the preview and go straight to download.

Writing

Compose opens a new message; from an open email you also get Reply, Reply all and Forward.

• To, Cc, Bcc — Cc and Bcc are there when you need them and out of the way when you don't.
• Attach — add files. Forwarding brings the original attachments along automatically.
• Your signature is inserted above any quoted text, every time.

If sending fails, the error names the likely cause — an SMTP setting, or credentials — rather than a generic failure.

Other actions

• Mark unread — put a message back in the unread pile.
• Mark important.
• See all — open the full mailbox view, with unread and read in separate columns.

The Cockpit connection

The Cockpit's Unread cell counts across every connected mailbox, so a glance at the band tells you whether the inbox needs you at all — which is usually the honest answer, and the one that lets you not open it.
