When something isn't working

The handful of things that actually go wrong, and what to do about each one.

A widget shows an error instead of its content

Each widget is isolated, so one failing widget shows the error inside its own tile and the rest of the board keeps working. Press Retry in the tile.

If it keeps happening, report it from that widget's 📣 menu — the report arrives already tagged with the widget, which is most of the diagnosis.

Something behaves oddly right after an update

A tab left open for a long time can still be running the previous version while your settings are already the new one. Reload with Ctrl+Shift+R (Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac), or close the installed app window and reopen it.

The Email widget detects this case specifically and says so: "This tab is running an older version of Divergify." Your settings are fine — only the reload is needed.

My tasks are not on my other device

That is expected, not a fault. Most content lives in local storage on the device that created it — same account, different device, different local data. See Your data and privacy.

What does follow you: your account, your connected mailboxes, your Google Calendar (it is in Google, not here) and your internal messages.

Everything vanished on this device

The usual cause is browser data being cleared — "clear cookies and site data" for this site removes what was stored locally, and private/incognito windows discard it on close.

Also check you are signed in with the same account, and that you are not on a different browser or profile from the one you built the board in.

A widget disappeared from the board

Three possibilities, in order of likelihood:

  • It is in the Radar, because Live Cockpit is on and it did not fit. Click its chip to bring it back.
  • You removed it. Add it again from + Add widget — its content comes back with it.
  • It is temporarily under maintenance, which the tile says explicitly.

Notifications don't arrive

Work through Notifications and reminders. The two common causes: the browser permission was refused, or — on iPhone — the app is not installed on the home screen, which iOS requires before it will deliver push at all.

The weather says location denied

The browser remembers a refusal and the widget cannot ask again by itself. Reset it in the site's permissions and reload — the steps per browser are in Weather.

Email won't connect

Read the exact error message: each one points at a different cause, and they are listed with their fixes in Connect a mailbox. The most common by far is a normal password used where an app-specific password is required.

The assistant says it has reached a limit

Model-backed answers have a daily cap. Local answers — your next appointment, overdue tasks, the weather, today's schedule, focus stats, and anything in this help centre — keep working regardless. The cap resets the next day.
